Excel Project

The purpose of the post is to 1) describe my Excel Project 2) state what I learned from completing this project. My Excel Project includes a page of data and two Pivot tables. The data, found on Raw Data sheet, is a collection of 500 individual's heart rates (measured every minute) from a workout. In order to assess the workout effectiveness, the data includes additional information like the individuals ID, Age, and Sex. Other data includes their Maximum Heart Rate, Targeted Heart Rate, Highest Heart Rate Achieved, whether they reached their targeted value, and Percent Increase in their heart rate.

My first chart, found on the TgtAchieved sheet, is a count of the male and female participants who either achieved their target mark or didn't achieve their mark. The second chart, found on AvgIncrease sheet and also below, is the average percentage of heart increase through the age groups of 20-29, 30-39, and 40-49. This table is further broken down by separating the sex of each age group.

This is a picture of the AvgIncrease pivot table

Upon completion of this project, I have learned how to use to successfully a pivot table. For example, how to set up a pivot table and manipulate the data for my use. Also how useful it can be to spruce up any Excel database. It is a very useful piece of technology and I see why Microsoft put it into Excel. I have never used a pivot table in the past, but now I think my Excel reports will always include one.
